Here are a few tricks to get your little ones to eat and enjoy their vegetables.
1. Have them eat the vegetables first.
Convince your tiny tot to eat the green part of the meal first and save the best, usually the starch or the protein for last. You can even go as far as putting the green on a separate small plate and have them finish the smaller plate first before they move on to the more enticing part of the meal.
2. A little salt and pepper goes a long way.
Don’t be afraid of a little seasoning on the food. It doesn’t have to be dowsed in salt and pepper or garlic and it doesn’t have to be bland either. Little one’s have taste buds as well and they want to enjoy their food too. You can also try cooking the veggies in chicken or beef stock to give it some flavor if you don’t think your child is ready for salt and pepper.
3. Juice, Juice, Juice!
Try juicing or blending the vegetables down to a puree form and mixing it with rice or pasta. Children generally like these two dishes and they probably won’t shy away from them because they are colorful.
